On November 24, a grand jury in Missouri decided not to indict Ferguson police officer Darren Wilson for the killing of Michael Brown. On August 9, 2014, Brown, an unarmed black 18-year old, was shot and killed by Wilson, who is white.

Is Albany Burnt?

“You go to Albany?” I nod in response to the inquiry. “Pshh. Man, that’s burnt!” “Burnt!” “Buuuurnt!” “Burrnt.” I can’t help but feel slightly self-conscious as the chorus of this insult spreads across the room like wildfire. Tenors, altos, sopranos- everyone has joined in. The harmony is nauseating.

Building Hope

As summer fades into fall, some students may feel that they experienced lackluster summer vacations. But for 12 Albany High students, the summer of 2014 was life-changing. These students belong to the buildOn club, one small chapter in a national organization that raises money to build schools in developing countries.
